Wesley + Matt :: Hitched

Posted on January 29th, 2009 by Kate. Filed in Weddings

Wow. I am not sure if I can really convey how I feel about this couple and their incredible families and their event in words. I feel like I am part of their tribe. They welcomed me with open arms since day one, and I have been so lucky to be a recipient of their warmth. It is true that I am friendly with the majority of my clients (meeting for margaritas never hurt nobody!), but with these guys, I think we will be real friends for a good, long time.Wesley and Matt “get it”. They totally trusted me, and when I say totally, I mean TOTALLY. From the engagement session to the Unbridaled session to the wedding day, their beautiful love story unfolded, and because of their trust, I feel I was truly able to capture things I may not have been able to at other weddings. Something is definitely to be said for people who are in touch with their emotions and who are expressive and allow themselves to be vulnerable in front of my camera and in my presence. Wes and Matt were and did all of the above, and I can’t thank them enough. I think the proof is in the pudding, below.I have also got to thank Sarah Miller and Amanda Barone from Caplan Miller Events for seriously ROCKING IT OUT. I have never been to an event with a smoother flow. Because of them, everyone had such a great time and the evening just clipped along. Sarah’s event design was so chic and sophisticated and set the scene for a super party. Thanks, also, to my mom, who was loving every minute of this wedding as I was. Your positive energy is truly inspiring.Other vendors that helped create this magical night are some of my absolute faves to work with. First In Last Out did the killer lighting and production…they are seriously the best in the entire state. Vella Events handled the floral aspect of the evening, and it was stunning. They used some of my most favorite flowers and totally killed it with the chuppah and reception decor. The Atlantics were frickin’ awesome, once again. I just can’t get enough of them! I got to meet a new vendor friend, Diane, from Crescent Video, who was the sweetest chick (and crazy talented). She made it super easy to work alongside her. Please go check out these vendors…they are seriously the DREAM TEAM.So, without further ado, I will release the motherload of images I have been obsessing over since I got back from Austin Sunday night.

BE SURE TO WATCH THE SLIDESHOW AT THE END OF THE POST…IT IS MUY ENTERTAINING!

Wesley’s older sis, Jessica, was such a cool chick to hang with!

Wesley checks out her basket-weave ‘do. Pretty impressive, no?

Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry! Don’t mess up that makeup, girl!

dlwfanningcr.jpg

You’ve already seen her dress…it was super stunning.

dlwdressdetailcr.jpg

Wes’ dad, Tom, sees her for the first time as a bride.

dlwwesandtomcr.jpg

Wes sees HERSELF for the first time in a full-length mirror with all of the fixings.
She didn’t even get that privilege during her Unbridaled sesh.

dlwwesmirrorwhoacr.jpg

This was actually inspired by one of my bridal portraits done at the Bellagio…she’s prettier!
I was ECSTATIC when I first found out that Wes and Matt were going to be seeing each other before the Ketubah signing and ceremony, so Sarah staged a meeting on the balcony of The Mansion.
Here is Wesley just waiting.

Here comes Matt!
dlwmattsfirstglancecr.jpg

Wesley sneaks a peek!

dlwwesfirstglancecr.jpg

Bliss.

dlwneckkisscr.jpg

Just horsin’ around, cuz that’s what we do. It’s who we are. ;-)

dlwtaxicr.jpg

Wesley writes her Hebrew name on the Ketubah.

dlwhebrewcr.jpg

Then, she wipes away her daddy’s tears.

dlwwipetomstearscr.jpg

Signed and ready to go!

dlwketubahsigscr.jpg

dlwbouquetcr.jpg

Wes actually pointed out this moment to me.
Matt’s father is no longer with us, so it was sweet to see Wesley’s dad steppin’ in to make sure Matt looked just right.

The rabbi was straight out of a movie.

dlwrabbicr.jpg

Wesley, her parents, and the flower girls waited to get to walk down aisle.

dlwflowergirlwindowcr.jpg

LOVE IT.

Can you handle the cuteness?

dlwexcitementgrinscr.jpg

This wedding party was too much fun. When I said, “Get rowdy!”, they brought the rowdy.
Check out the flying yarmulke!

dlwflyingcapcr.jpg

The excitement of having wedding bands was just running through their veins!

Something about this image takes my breath away.

dlwhallwaylovecr.jpg

Look at the amazing job that the vendors did in creating a magical atmosphere.

dlwthescenecr.jpg

Wes and Matt waited, like a good little bride and groom, to be introduced.

dlwwaitingcr.jpg

They got down during their first dance!

dlwfirstdancecr.jpg

Here comes the Hora!
It was my first time to experience it, and it was enough to make me want to become Jewish.
Matt deemed me an honorary Jew, right there on the dance floor!

dlwhoracirclecr.jpg

Favorite toast image. Ever.
If Matt’s grandfather, Julius, ever needs a new granddaughter, sign me up!
He’s precious!

dlwtoastcr.jpg

Wesley’s adorable sister, Erin, caught the bouquet.
Then, her boyfriend, Jason, caught the garter.
They’re next! They’re next!

dlwtheyarenextcr.jpg

Through a flurry of rose petals and snow, Matt and Wesley somehow found the stairs to escape.
And, they’re off!

Oh Kate! Each image is more beautiful than the one before it. My jaw kept dropping, especially at the ceremony shots which seemed a challenging lighting situation that you totally rose to. I am so proud of you!
